Three Generations Helping Patients Hear Better

Our Hearing Professionals

Our story begins after World War II when Chris Mario arrived back from battle in Europe and needed to start again. In a Boston newspaper, (the old "Record American"), he read and followed up on an ad for training to be an Optician. We still have his old diploma. After completing a tour of duty in Korea, his brother, Jerry Mario, joined him, also as a trained Optician. They continued working as Opticians into the 50's, at which point they added hearing aids to their professional services. This was a common blending of the two disciplines and is still widespread today.

Later on, Robert Mario and his cousin, Dennis Mario, also schooled and trained for the same two, yet highly evolved professions over 30 years ago. In addition, they received Board Certification in both fields. Dennis has since relocated out of state. Robert Mario turned his attention exclusively to Hearing Instrument Sciences many years ago. His wife, Lisa, is also an Optician and Hearing Instrument Specialist, thus completing this, our second generation of patient care. The licensing of Robert Mario's son, Dana Mario, H.I.S., brings the third generation of our hearing instrument specialists into practice. Dana continued his education in hearing healthcare and became the first Mario to become an Audiologist, graduating in 2016 with a Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Working within the medical community in the Metro Boston area, our clinics provide a variety of hearing healthcare services including hearing assessments, hearing aid prescribing and fitting, tinnitus management, hyperacusis/misophonia management, physician referrals, and industrial testing.

Over the past sixty-plus years of service, our family has become attuned to working with the patient in finding the best possible result. To achieve this, an Audiologist or Hearing Instrument Specialist must have deep knowledge and experience. By remaining independent practitioners for over 60 years, we feel we do this the best. Call for an appointment and meet with our generations of care!

"I've experienced firsthand what someone has to go through when they have communication difficulties. Not being able to have a conversation with another person, avoiding situations because of feeling left out, are things that I want to help my patients with using my training and experience. Even though I'm the third generation in my family to work in Hearing Healthcare, I only decided to make this my career after discovering my own passion for it. I want to work with both proven and new methods and technology to help my patients with all of their hearing needs."
